
Danica Sue Patrick is an American former professional racer. Danica Sue Patrick is among the most successful female in American open-wheel car racing time. Her victory at the Indy Japan 300 was her first victory. In 1998, she resigned from high school and moved to England to continue her career. Patrick was a participant in Formula Vauxhall before moving to the United States in 2001 because of the lack of funding. In 2002, she participated in five Barber Dodge Pro Series races in conjunction with Rahal Letterman racing. Patrick continued to race in the Toyota Atlantic Series for the two years that followed. She was third in the championship standings of the 2004 season, where she became first woman to earn a spot in the series. She was the IndyCar Series rookie of the year in 2005, and also won the Indianapolis 500. She showed improvement during the next two seasons, racing with Rahal Letterman Racing 2006, and then Andretti Green Racing 2007. Patrick finished sixth in the driver's standings following her victory in Japan. The following year she improved her position and placed fifth overall in the drivers' standings. Patrick also scored an all-time high of third at the Indianapolis 500, which was the highest performance by a female driver in the race. Patrick's overall performance was bad in 2010, however she did manage two second-place finishes on oval tracks before she left IndyCar to focus on racing stock cars.
